Mark BoydDETROIT, Michigan (December 17, 2009)-Jason Ahlquist, the director of Michigan-based independent film production, Winter Harvest, announced today that he’s cast Mark Boyd in the role of The Scientist. The film, which has been in pre-production since April ’09, began principal photography in January of 2010.

Mark Boyd, originally from Oklahoma, has spent most of his life performing. He has appeared in TV and radio commercials, toured as a comedian, performed in theatre and, as on-camera and voice talent, in TV, radio, internet and industrial videos.

Boyd was cast in a speaking role, as the neighbor “Ronny”, in Drew Barrymore’s recent feature, “Whip It!” He also more recently provided voice talent for an upcoming feature length movie for the pre-Kindergarten audience, “The Oogieloves and the Big Balloon Adventure.” He may also been seen in upcoming movies, shot in Michigan; “Up in the Air” with George Clooney, and “Betty Ann Waters” with Hillary Swank.

Also joining the cast of Winter Harvest are Scott Norman as Andrew Titus (“InZerO” and “The Art of Power”), Rochelle Clark as Tammy Titus (“Whip It!” “Saving Art House” and “Up in the Air” ), Caleb Gilbert (“InZerO”), Madison Ortiz as Lucy (“The Myth of the American Sleepover”) and Jib Namprachan (“Up in the Air”).

Is this how the world ends? With a whimper or a bang? Andrew Titus lives in that world. Winter never seems to end and human society is starting to unravel. After years of global turmoil, the world's big problems have finally shown up at his front door. Facing the recent death of his eldest son and the possible starvation of his family Andy is face with difficult choices. Everyone around him is falling into a state of lawlesness, waylaying travellers for food and supplies. Andy refuses to believe that this is the only path for his family.

And then on one chilly, July afternoon fate drives through a trap set by the bandits in his subdivision. A simple attempt at highway robbery turns into a conflict with a military convoy carrying a mysterious and dangerous cargo. The entire convoy, led by a mysterious man in a specialized hazmat suit is carrying just two boxes. The bandits open one.

In an instant a force is unleashed that transforms the entire community around Andy. Now he will be challenged with even more tribulations. Now he must fight to save his family from this force that threatens to engulf the whole world.

It is a narrow, hard path that he must run - not walk. Pursued by the shambling creatures that used to be his neighbors, will Andy's dark, cold night bring him through to a new dawn or will it consume him?
